Redwings dedicated welfare team, headed by a veterinary surgeon,
responds to over 3,000 calls annually to our Horse Care & Welfare
hotline and investigates over 700 cases where the welfare of a horse
is a cause for concern. A comprehensive network of 100 trained Equine
Welfare Advisors located across the UK undertakes investigations
which in turn typically lead to 200 equines entering the Sanctuary
each year. Those equines that have a potential for life outside
the Sanctuary are then secured a caring foster home through our Guardianship Scheme, based at our Parklands Rehoming Centre. Redwings Rehabilitation team,
trained by one of the country's top equine behaviour therapists,
is dedicated to working with rescued equines with psychological problems.
These problems may arise from ill treatment in the equine's past,
from pain associated with a physical condition or from a lack of
previous contact with humans.
